About Find My Prayer
Find My Prayer exists for the moment when you want to pray and cannot find the words. Instead of asking you to know the name of a prayer, it lets you search by what you are actually carrying — anxiety, grief, forgiveness, healing, protection, thanksgiving — and gives you the full text of prayers that fit.
How prayers are chosen
Every prayer in the library has to clear the same bar before it is added:
- Christian and shared. Prayers come from the main streams of historic Christianity — Catholic, Orthodox, Anglican, Protestant and the wider tradition they hold in common. Nothing from fringe or splinter groups is included, and prayers are never tagged or sorted by denomination. This site is meant to unite Christians, not divide them.
- Verified wording. Each prayer is checked against published sources, and the most commonly used version of the text is the one that appears here.
- A documented history. Every prayer carries an "About the prayer" note explaining where it came from, who wrote or popularised it, and how it has been used.
- No duplicates. Near-identical texts are merged, unless they serve a genuinely different purpose or form, such as a novena or a chaplet.
Where to begin
The home page does not simply list the most famous prayers. It opens with a hand-picked set of prayers chosen for how much they carry — prayers of surrender, protection, sorrow, gratitude and trust — so that there is something worth praying in front of you before you type anything. From there you can sort results by relevance, by what is most read, or ask for a prayer at random.
Deliverance and spiritual protection
The library includes a section of deliverance and protection prayers, drawn from long-established Catholic sources and the wider Christian tradition of prayer against evil. These are devotional texts intended for private use by lay people. They stand alongside, and never in place of, the ministry of your priest or pastor.
Saving, sharing and reading
Sign in and you can save any prayer to My Prayers, pin the ones you return to most, and sort your list by date added, alphabetically or by how widely a prayer is read. Every prayer can be shared by text, email or social apps, copied as plain text, printed for a service or a bedside, and read at a larger text size.
Prayers from the community
The community section is separate from the main library. Anyone can post an original prayer there, and anyone can read, search, like and save what others have written. Community prayers are not held to the historical sourcing standard above, and they are never mixed into the main library.
Anything flagged is reviewed within 48 hours and can be removed. If a report has not been dealt with in that window, the prayer is hidden automatically until a person has looked at it. You can also block a member, which immediately hides everything they have shared from your view.
Suggesting a prayer
If a well-known prayer is missing, you can suggest it for the library. Suggestions are read by hand, checked against the standard above, and added when they qualify.
On your phone
Find My Prayer also runs as an app for iPhone and Android, with the same library, the same saved prayers and the same community — and the same price, which is nothing.
Who runs this
Find My Prayer is built and maintained by Return to Faith Ministries. It is free to use, and it always will be. If you find an error in a prayer's text or history, please send it through the suggestion page so it can be corrected.
