Sources & Permissions

Find My Prayer is a free, non-commercial devotional library. Every prayer here is checked against a published source, and that source is shown at the bottom of the prayer so you can go and read it in its original setting.

Where the texts come from

• Traditional and public-domain prayers. The great majority of the library is made up of prayers that have been prayed for centuries — the Our Father, the Hail Mary, the Memorare, the prayers of the saints, the Orthodox horologion, the collects of the Book of Common Prayer — in English translations that are long out of copyright and free for anyone to reproduce.
• Scripture. All biblical text on this site is taken from the King James Version or the World English Bible, both of which are in the public domain. No modern copyrighted translation is used.
• Prayer books. The 1662, 1928 and 1979 Books of Common Prayer, older Roman hand missals, Luther's Small Catechism and similar historic service books are all freely reproducible.
• Original prayers. A number of the pastoral prayers — for anxiety, illness, caregiving, grief and other everyday needs — were written for this site and are built on public-domain scripture.
• Modern sources, used with credit. A small number of prayers come from books still in print. These are always named on the prayer page so readers can find and support the original publisher.

Modern works we credit

• Deliverance Prayers: For Use by the Laity — Fr. Chad Ripperger, Sensus Traditionis Press. The deliverance and protection prayers drawn from this collection are reproduced with attribution for devotional use. We encourage readers to buy the book.
• Divine Mercy in My Soul — the Diary of St. Maria Faustina Kowalska, English translation copyright the Marian Fathers of the Immaculate Conception (Marian Press). The Chaplet and related prayers are reproduced with credit for devotional use.
• Liturgical translations. Where a modern liturgical translation is under copyright, this site uses an older public-domain English version of the same prayer instead.

Corrections and removals

No prayer is published here in order to compete with the book it came from. If you hold the rights to a text on this site and would like it credited differently, shortened, or removed, write to returntofaithministries@gmail.com and it will be handled promptly — usually the same day.

The same address is the right place to send a correction if you spot wording that differs from the authoritative version of a prayer.
