O Sacrum Convivium (St. Thomas Aquinas)
The antiphon Aquinas wrote for the feast of Corpus Christi in 1264 at the request of Pope Urban IV, together with its collect.
O sacred banquet,
in which Christ is received,
the memory of his Passion is renewed,
the mind is filled with grace,
and a pledge of future glory is given to us.
Alleluia.
V. You have given them bread from heaven.
R. Having within it all sweetness.
Let us pray.
O God, who in this wonderful Sacrament
have left us a memorial of your Passion:
grant us, we beseech you,
so to reverence the sacred mysteries of your Body and Blood,
that we may ever perceive within ourselves
the fruit of your redemption.
Who live and reign for ever and ever. Amen.
