Solomon's Prayer for Wisdom
Solomon's request at Gibeon (1 Kings 3:7–9), offered when God invited him to ask for anything.
Now, Lord my God, you have made your servant king,
and I am but a little child.
I don't know how to go out or come in.
Your servant is among your people whom you have chosen,
a great people, that can't be numbered or counted for multitude.
Give your servant therefore an understanding heart
to judge your people,
that I may discern between good and evil;
for who is able to judge this great people of yours?

About the prayer
Because he asked for discernment rather than wealth or long life, the prayer became the classic Christian model of right petition, and is prayed by those taking on leadership, new roles, or hard decisions.
