Prayer for the Grace of Repentance (St. Anselm)
O merciful God, fill our hearts, we pray Thee, with the graces of Thy Holy Spirit; with love, joy, peace, long-suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, and temperance.
Teach us to love those who hate us; to pray for those who despitefully use us; that we may be the children of Thy love, our Father, who makest Thy sun to rise on the evil and the good. Amen.

About the prayer
Attributed to St. Anselm of Canterbury (1033–1109), theologian and Doctor of the Church. The prayer asks for the nine fruits of the Spirit listed by St. Paul in Galatians 5, and then applies them to the hardest case Christ names in the Sermon on the Mount: love of enemies. It has long appeared in English devotional collections and in Anglican and Catholic prayer books alike.
