Prayer of a Penitent Heart (Psalm 103)
Drawn from Psalm 103, the great psalm of David on the mercy of God.
Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases; who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies.
The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy.
He hath not dealt with us after our sins, nor rewarded us according to our iniquities.
As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us. Amen.

About the prayer
Where Psalm 51 is the cry of the sinner, Psalm 103 is the answer: forgiveness so complete that the distance between east and west is the only measure for it. It is prayed in the Liturgy of the Hours and is a favorite text of those struggling to believe they have truly been pardoned.
