Prayer to St. Maximilian Kolbe
O Lord Jesus Christ,
who said, 'Greater love than this no one has
than to lay down his life for his friends':
through the intercession of St. Maximilian Kolbe,
whose life illustrated such love,
we beseech you to grant us our petition.
(Mention it.)
Through the Militia Immaculata movement he founded,
he strove to lead all people to a knowledge and love of you
through the Immaculate Virgin Mary.
Grant that we too may give ourselves entirely,
without reserve, to the love and service
of our heavenly Queen,
in order to better love and serve our fellow men,
and so bring peace to a world in need. Amen.

About the prayer
St. Maximilian Kolbe (1894-1941) was a Polish Franciscan who, imprisoned at Auschwitz, stepped forward to take the place of a condemned man with a family and died in the starvation bunker. Pope St. John Paul II canonized him in 1982 as a martyr of charity, in the presence of the man whose life he saved. He is a patron of prisoners, of families, and of those who face despair.
