The Collect for Purity
Translated by Thomas Cranmer for the 1549 Book of Common Prayer from a Latin collect used in the Sarum rite, where the priest prayed it privately before Mass.
Almighty God, unto whom all hearts are open, all desires known,
and from whom no secrets are hid: cleanse the thoughts of our hearts
by the inspiration of thy Holy Spirit, that we may perfectly love thee,
and worthily magnify thy holy Name; through Christ our Lord. Amen.

About the prayer
Cranmer gave it to the whole congregation. It is a good prayer to begin with when you are not sure what you want, because it asks God to sort out the wanting first.
