A litany of renunciation, pairing each rejected vice with the opposing virtue.
In the name of Jesus Christ, I renounce Satan and all his works and all his empty promises.
I reject pride, and I choose humility.
I reject anger, and I choose meekness.
I reject lust, and I choose purity.
I reject envy, and I choose charity.
I reject greed, and I choose generosity.
I reject gluttony, and I choose temperance.
I reject sloth, and I choose diligence.
I reject despair, and I choose hope.
I reject fear, and I choose trust.
I reject every lie of the enemy, and I choose the truth of Jesus Christ.
Lord Jesus, I give You my whole self — body, soul, mind, will, memory and heart. Reign in me, and let nothing in me belong to the enemy. Amen.

About the prayer
It follows the classical Christian doctrine of agere contra — acting directly against a disordered inclination — taught by St. Ignatius of Loyola in the Spiritual Exercises and by John Cassian centuries earlier. The opening lines are the renunciation from the rite of Baptism itself, which the Church has every Christian repeat at the Easter Vigil, so that this prayer is in substance a renewal of one's baptismal rejection of the devil.
