Prayer of St. Ephrem the Syrian
The Lenten prayer of St.
O Lord and Master of my life,
take from me the spirit of sloth, despair,
lust of power, and idle talk.
But give rather the spirit of chastity,
humility, patience, and love to your servant.
Yea, O Lord and King,
grant me to see my own transgressions
and not to judge my brother,
for you are blessed unto ages of ages. Amen.

About the prayer
Ephrem the Syrian (c. 306–373), prayed with prostrations at nearly every weekday service of Great Lent in the Orthodox Church. Dostoevsky quoted it; Pushkin put it into verse. It is the shortest complete map of repentance in Eastern Christianity.
