The Glory Be (Doxology)
The Glory Be, or Gloria Patri, is one of the oldest prayers in continuous Christian use, with roots in the doxologies of the early Church of the second and third centuries.

About the prayer
Its present Western form was settled in the sixth century, partly in response to Arian controversies, as a short confession that the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit share one eternal glory. It closes each psalm in the Liturgy of the Hours, punctuates each decade of the Rosary, and is used by Catholics, Orthodox, Anglicans, and many Protestants alike. Because it is brief and purely praise, it is often prayed as an act of thanksgiving, as a way of ending any other prayer, or as a steadying refrain during the day.
