Prayers of the Saints
I Am Yours, Born for You (St. Teresa of Ávila)
I am yours, and born for you.
What do you want of me?
Sovereign Majesty, eternal Wisdom,
Goodness gracious to my soul,
God most high, one Being good,
behold this great vileness:
today I sing my love to you.
What do you want of me?
Give me death, or give me life;
give me sickness, or give me health;
give me honour, or dishonour;
give me war, or give me peace;
weakness or full strength —
to all of it I say yes.
What do you want of me?
