A Prayer for a Newborn Child

Loving God, we thank you for this child, knit together by you and given into our arms. Bless this little one with health of body and peace of mind. Guard the days we will not see. Give this child friends who are true, work that is good, and a heart that knows you. Make us the parents this child needs — patient beyond our nature, steady in the sleepless hours, quick to delight. The Lord bless you and keep you. The Lord make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you. The Lord lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace. Amen.
