Prayers for Mental Health
A Prayer in Anxiety
A contemporary pastoral prayer shaped around Philippians 4:6–7 and Christ's words in Matthew 6.
Lord Jesus, my mind will not be quiet.
The same fears circle back no matter how often I set them down.
You told your friends not to be anxious, and you did not say it harshly.
So I bring you what I am carrying:
what I fear will happen,
what I cannot control,
what I have already turned over a hundred times.
Do not let me confuse worry with responsibility.
Give me the next small thing to do, and the grace to leave the rest with you.
Guard my heart and my mind in the peace that is past understanding. Amen.
Contemporary pastoral prayer based on Philippians 4:6-7
About the prayer
Anxiety is not treated as a failure of faith here but as something to be handed over repeatedly. Prayer is a companion to care, not a substitute for it — professional help is a gift from God as well.
