Prayer of Nicholas of Cusa

Lord, you have given me my being, and it is such that it continually renews itself. You give yourself to me that I may be my own, and in giving yourself you give me freedom. Wherever I turn my eyes, there you are looking at me. Your glance never leaves anyone, and you behold each one of us as though you beheld none other. Grant that I may keep my face turned to you, and never turn away; for while you look on me I live, and if you should withdraw your glance I would fall back into nothing. Amen.
