Marian Prayers
Prayer to Our Lady, Queen of Virgins (for Purity)
The titles "Queen of Virgins" and "Mother of Fair Love" come from the Litany of Loreto and the wisdom literature of Scripture, and both have long anchored Marian prayers for purity.
O Mary, Virgin most pure,
Queen of virgins and Mother of fair love,
I choose you this day
as the queen and mistress of my heart.
I entrust to your keeping
my body and my soul,
my thoughts, my desires,
my words, and my deeds.
Preserve me from every stain of sin,
obtain for me the grace of holy purity,
and guard my heart as your own possession,
that it may be a fitting dwelling
for your Divine Son. Amen.
Traditional; titles from the Litany of Loreto
About the prayer
Devotions entrusting one's body and soul to Mary's keeping were widespread in Catholic schools, sodalities, and Marian congregations from the seventeenth century onward. This prayer is used as a morning offering, before Confession, or whenever a person wants to place their heart under Mary's protection.
