The Chaplet of Divine Mercy
The Chaplet of Divine Mercy was given, according to her diary, to St.
You expired, Jesus, but the source of life gushed forth for souls,
and the ocean of mercy opened up for the whole world.
O Fount of Life, unfathomable Divine Mercy,
envelop the whole world and empty yourself out upon us.
Our Father... Hail Mary... The Apostles' Creed...
On the large bead:
Eternal Father, I offer you the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity
of your dearly beloved Son, our Lord Jesus Christ,
in atonement for our sins and those of the whole world.
On the ten small beads:
For the sake of his sorrowful Passion,
have mercy on us and on the whole world.
(Repeat for five decades.)
Concluding prayer, three times:
Holy God, Holy Mighty One, Holy Immortal One,
have mercy on us and on the whole world. Amen.
Diary of St. Faustina Kowalska (1935)
About the prayer
Faustina Kowalska, a Polish sister, in 1935, and spread worldwide after St. John Paul II canonised her in 2000 and established Divine Mercy Sunday. It is prayed on ordinary rosary beads and takes about seven minutes. Faustina recorded a particular promise attached to praying it at three o'clock, the hour of Christ's death, and for the dying. It is prayed for those who are gravely ill, for hardened hearts, and by anyone who needs to be reminded that mercy is larger than their failure.
