The Holy Face Devotion (Golden Arrow) — Daily Practice

Peter, a Carmelite of Tours, between 1843 and 1847. Our Lord asked her for a work of reparation against two sins He named as wounding Him most in the modern age: blasphemy and the profanation of Sundays and holy days. The chief prayer given to her, the Golden Arrow, was described by Christ as an arrow that would "wound His Heart with a delightful wound," healing the wounds inflicted by blasphemers. After her death in 1848 the devotion was carried forward by Venerable Leo Dupont, "the Holy Man of Tours," who kept a lamp burning before an image of the Holy Face in his home for thirty years. Pope Leo XIII erected the Archconfraternity of the Holy Face at Tours in 1885, and Pope Pius XII fixed the Feast of the Holy Face on Shrove Tuesday. St. Therese of Lisieux took her name in religion from it — Therese of the Child Jesus and the Holy Face — and called the Holy Face the whole of her spirituality.
