Marian Prayers

How to Pray the Rosary

Begin: make the Sign of the Cross and say the Apostles' Creed. On the first bead: one Our Father. On the next three beads: three Hail Marys, for faith, hope, and love. Then: the Glory Be. For each of the five decades: 1. Announce the mystery. 2. Pray one Our Father. 3. Pray ten Hail Marys while meditating on the mystery. 4. Pray the Glory Be, and then the Fatima Prayer: O my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell, lead all souls to Heaven, especially those in most need of Thy mercy. Conclude with the Hail, Holy Queen and the closing prayer: O God, whose only begotten Son, by His life, death, and resurrection, has purchased for us the rewards of eternal life; grant, we beseech Thee, that meditating upon these mysteries of the Most Holy Rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary, we may imitate what they contain and obtain what they promise, through the same Christ our Lord. Amen. The Joyful Mysteries (Monday, Saturday): the Annunciation; the Visitation; the Nativity; the Presentation; the Finding in the Temple. The Luminous Mysteries (Thursday): the Baptism of the Lord; the Wedding at Cana; the Proclamation of the Kingdom; the Transfiguration; the Institution of the Eucharist. The Sorrowful Mysteries (Tuesday, Friday): the Agony in the Garden; the Scourging at the Pillar; the Crowning with Thorns; the Carrying of the Cross; the Crucifixion. The Glorious Mysteries (Wednesday, Sunday): the Resurrection; the Ascension; the Descent of the Holy Spirit; the Assumption; the Coronation of Mary.
