Prayer for the Pope (Oremus pro Pontifice)
V. Let us pray for our Pontiff, Pope N.
R. May the Lord preserve him, and give him life, and make him blessed upon the earth, and deliver him not up to the will of his enemies.
Let us pray. O God, Shepherd and Ruler of all the faithful, look favorably upon Thy servant N., whom Thou hast willed to set as pastor over Thy Church. Grant him, we beseech Thee, that by word and example he may edify those over whom he is set, so that together with the flock entrusted to him he may attain to life everlasting. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

About the prayer
The Church's traditional prayer for the reigning Pope, taken from Psalm 40 with the collect Deus, omnium fidelium. Pope Pius IX (1846) attached an indulgence to its daily recitation, and it is customarily prayed after benediction, at the close of the Divine Office, and on the anniversary of the Pope's election.
