Prayer for a Nation

Almighty God, who rulest over the nations of the earth: we commend to thy merciful care this land and its people. Guide those who make and administer its laws, that they may seek justice and love mercy. Give to our people a spirit of truth and honesty, that we may live together without hatred, bear with one another's differences, and defend the weak among us. Save us from violence, discord and confusion, from pride and arrogancy, and from every evil way. Make us a people at peace with one another and with thee; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
