A Prayer for a Marriage

O gracious and everliving God, who hast created us male and female in thine image: look mercifully upon this man and this woman who come to thee seeking thy blessing. Give them wisdom and devotion in the ordering of their common life, that each may be to the other a strength in need, a counsellor in perplexity, a comfort in sorrow, and a companion in joy. Grant that their wills may be so knit together in thy will, and their spirits in thy Spirit, that they may grow in love and peace with thee and with one another all the days of their life; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
