Prayer to St. Christopher for Travellers
Dear Saint Christopher, protect me today
in all my travels along the road's way.
Give your warning sign if danger is near
so that I may stop while the path is clear.
Be at my window and direct me through
when the vision blurs from out of the blue.
Carry me safely to my destined place,
like you carried Christ in your close embrace.
Grant me, O Lord, a steady hand and watchful eye,
that no one shall be hurt as I pass by.
Bless those, dear Lord, who bear me company,
and bring us all in safety home. Amen.

About the prayer
The name Christopher means 'Christ-bearer', and the legend tells of a giant who ferried travellers across a river and one night carried a child who grew unbearably heavy — the Christ he had unknowingly served. Though little is known historically about the third-century martyr behind the story, he has been the patron of travellers since the Middle Ages, and medals and car blessings in his name remain among the most common Catholic sacramentals.
