Begone, Satan!
Never tempt me with your vanities.
What you offer me is evil.
Drink the poison yourself!

About the prayer
Benedict, one of the Church's most widely used sacramentals. The letters around the medal's cross stand for the Latin lines above, and tradition connects the formula to two episodes in St. Gregory the Great's life of Benedict: the cup of poisoned wine that shattered at the saint's blessing, and the poisoned loaf carried off by a raven. The medal in its present form was struck in 1880 at Monte Cassino for the fourteenth centenary of Benedict's birth.
