Flower of Carmel (Flos Carmeli)

Flower of Carmel, Blossoming Vine, Splendor of Heaven, Childbearing Virgin, none like to thee. Mother most tender, whom no man didst know, on Carmel's children thy favors bestow. Star of the Sea. Strong stem of Jesse, who bore one bright Flower, be ever near us in trial's dark hour. Root of Jesse, giving a flower whose breath is heaven, sweet Sister of the seraphim, be our shield against all evil. O Purest of creatures, sweet Mother, sweet Maid, the first Star of the morning, send down thy protection in sickness and sorrow. Our Lady of Mount Carmel, pray for us. Amen.

St. Simon Stock, c. 1251; Carmelite Proper of the Office
