A Prayer for Adult Children

Father, my children are grown and out of my hands, and I am learning that they never were in them. Keep them, Lord, where I cannot follow. Give them work that means something, friends who tell the truth, and a way back to you if they have wandered. Take from me the urge to manage their lives. Let my voice be one they want to hear. And when they suffer, let them not suffer alone. Amen.
