Prayer for the Use of Holy Water and Blessed Salt
By this holy water and by Your Precious Blood, wash away all my sins, O Lord.
Heavenly Father, as I use this water and this salt, blessed by Your Church, drive far from this place and from all who dwell here every power of the enemy, every sickness of body and soul, and every trace of what is not from You.
Let Your peace rest upon this house. Let Your angels guard its doors. Let every room be filled with Your presence and every heart within it turned to You.

About the prayer
Holy water and blessed salt are sacramentals — objects blessed by the Church to dispose the faithful to receive grace — and their use in the home is among the oldest lay practices of protection, described in the Roman Ritual's blessings and rooted in the prophet Elisha's purification of the spring at Jericho with salt (2 Kings 2:19-22). The prayer is worded carefully for lay use: the laity may use blessed water and salt freely and pray over their own homes, but the blessing of the sacramentals themselves belongs to a priest.
