The Green Scapular Devotion (For Conversion) — Daily Practice

In a series of apparitions the Blessed Virgin showed her a piece of green cloth bearing her image on one side and her Immaculate Heart pierced by a sword on the other, with the words "Immaculate Heart of Mary, pray for us now and at the hour of our death." The devotion was approved by Pope Pius IX in 1863 and again in 1870. It is unlike other scapulars in three ways: it is not a habit and requires no enrollment, it may be given to someone who does not know they have it, and its object is the conversion of those without faith and the grace of a holy death. The single condition is that the daily prayer be said — by the wearer if they will, or by the person who gave it if they will not.
