A Prayer for Freedom from Addiction

Lord, you know exactly what has hold of me, and how many times I have promised myself it was the last time. I stop pretending I can do this alone. Take from me the craving that outlasts my willpower. Give me today — only today — free. Bless the people who are helping me, and the ones I have hurt. Where I have caused damage, give me the humility to make it right. Where I have failed, give me the courage to begin again without shame. One day at a time, Lord. Amen.
