Severing Ties, Bonds and Attachments
Lord Jesus Christ, in Your name and by the power of Your Cross and Your Blood, I ask You to sever every tie, bond and attachment that binds me to anything or anyone contrary to Your will.
Sever what was formed through sin, through fear, through anger, through unforgiveness, through addiction, or through the malice of another. Sever every attachment of the enemy to my body, my soul, my mind, my heart and my memory.
Return to me whatever has been taken, restore to me what has been broken, and bind me to Yourself, that I may belong entirely to You. Amen.

A broader companion to the prayer against occult ties, this text addresses the ordinary attachments — resentment, fear, addiction, disordered relationships — that spiritual writers have always identified as the enemy's usual handholds, long before anything preternatural is in question. St. John of the Cross taught in The Ascent of Mount Carmel that even a slender thread will hold a bird as surely as a rope if the bird never breaks it; this prayer asks the Lord to break the threads.
