For Breaking the Wall Built Up Around the Heart

Lord Jesus Christ, You know the wall I have built around my heart. I built it to keep out pain, and it has kept out You. I ask You to break it down, stone by stone, as gently or as swiftly as You judge best. Where I have hardened myself out of fear, give me courage. Where I have closed myself out of hurt, give me healing. Where I have withdrawn out of pride, give me humility. Take from me the heart of stone and give me a heart of flesh. Make my heart like Yours — open, wounded and alive. Amen.
