Novena to St. Rita of Cascia
Pray each day for nine days:
O holy patroness of those in need, St. Rita, so humble, pure and patient, whose pleadings with thy Divine Spouse are irresistible: obtain for me from thy crucified Christ my request (state your intention).
Be favorable toward me for the greater glory of God, and I promise to honor thee and to sing thy praises forever.
O glorious St. Rita, who didst miraculously participate in the sorrowful Passion of Our Lord Jesus Christ, obtain for me the grace to suffer with resignation the troubles of this life, and protect me in all my needs. Amen.

Augustinian devotion to St. Rita of Cascia
About the prayer
St. Rita of Cascia (1381–1457) was an Italian wife, mother, widow, and finally an Augustinian nun. She endured an abusive marriage and the loss of her husband and both sons before entering religious life, and bore a wound on her forehead from the crown of thorns for the last fifteen years of her life. She is invoked as the patroness of impossible causes, difficult marriages, abuse victims, and parents grieving their children. Her feast is May 22.
