Novena Prayers
A novena is nine consecutive days of prayer for a specific intention. The pattern comes from the nine days the apostles prayed together between the Ascension and Pentecost.
There is nothing mechanical about it. The nine days are a commitment to persistence, and persistence in prayer is something Jesus explicitly commends.
