Prayer to Protect the Faculties
A precise prayer reflecting the Catholic anatomy of the soul as it comes down from St.
Lord Jesus Christ, I ask You to protect the faculties of my soul.
Guard my intellect, that I may see the truth and not be deceived. Guard my will, that I may choose the good and not be moved by any influence contrary to Yours. Guard my memory, that it may not be used to torment me. Guard my imagination, that it may not be used to seduce me. Guard my senses, that they may not become doors for the enemy.
Let every faculty You have given me serve You alone, and let nothing in me be turned against You. Amen.

About the prayer
Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas: intellect, will, memory, imagination and the exterior senses. Deliverance ministers commonly observe that the enemy's ordinary work is not dramatic but subtle — a suggestion to the imagination, a distortion of memory, a false light offered to the intellect. This prayer asks God to garrison each faculty in turn, on the principle that what is consecrated to God cannot easily be turned against Him.
